Dec 4/95 Notes on installing Woodsim5: This programs runs in DOS or in a DOSbox in Windows95 (haven't tried Windows 3.1) Copy unzipped files to a new directory such as c:\woodsim Run install5.exe and answer the questions. When it asks you for the input (.FM4) files, type in path to your new directory, eg C:\woodsim\ (in actual fact these are the .fm5 files) The file that runs the program is fluein5.exe - so you can go to that directory and type in fluein5. I run it by double clicking on the file in file manager in Winows95 The program comes with a bunch of data files that simulate various appliances. Dhw.fm5 for example is I believe a domestic hot water heater. The first thing the program will do is ask you to load a data file by picking a number from a list. Once you type that in, you are presented with a screen of options. Pick option 1 "Change File Data" to see a list of parameters that you can change. Once you are done, you can save it as a new data file if desired. You can then pick option 2, "Set runtime controls" to tell it how long to run the simulation, etc.. Option 5 "Run Program" does the actual run. You will be given a choice of different ways to view the simulation as it is running, and you will also get an output file to disk that you can import into a word processor or spreadsheet. Happy simulating! Norbert Senf email mheat@mha-net.org
