Jerry Frisch, of Lopez Quarries in Everett has recently qualified to become the first heater mason to be certified in North America through the Masonry Heater Association.
To achieve this honor, Jerry was required to demonstrate a working knowledge of relevant housing and fuel burning regulations and sufficient knowledge of masonry work by providing professional credentials deemed acceptable to the MHA. Jerry also had to provide evidence of working knowledge of masonry heater design and construction consisting of verifiable documentation of three masonry heater construction projects completed within the past five years. To finalize the certification honor, Jerry achieved a passing score on the MHA certification exam.
After a significant amount of time, effort and money the Masonry Heater Association launched their certification program at their annual meeting at the Wildacres Retreat.

The Masonry Heater Association of North America is a non-profit association of builders, manufacturers and retailers of masonry heaters whose purpose is to promote the industry, sponsor research and development, shape regulations, standards and codes, inform and educate the public, and further the expertise and professionalism of its membership.
