The heated bench wraps around the left side (viewed from the front, which is to the top of the picture) and the rear.
Gases enter the bench from a downdraft channel on the left side, and exit into an updraft channel at the rear.

Interesting concept for constructing the air system from standard firebricks.
Use of thin shim strips for the spacers is avoided by notching in larger spacers.



Stainless chimney pipe is visible at the rear.
